As many of you know , for the past 18 months, Orienteering USA has been developing a partnership between the state of Kentucky, Orienteering Louisville, Orienteering Cincinnati and OUSA.
On Columbus day weekend we began to see the true results of those efforts in the form of a new state-funded permanent orienteering course at Taylorsville Lake State Park. In addition, Kentucky, OLOU and OUSA worked together to promote National Orienteering Day (held a few weeks later to accomodate club scheudule) which drew a record 209 participants ... 39% over projection.
This relationship will continue next year as we bring the Flying Pig to Northern Kentucky and develop new courses at Rough River Dam State Park, as we all work together to make Kentucky a lead adventure tourism destination.
If you are interested in what a local sports commission or Convention and Visitors Bureau can do to promote orienteering, give me a call.
