Western Mass "5 Day" nets $6,700 for the U.S. Ski Orienteering Team

NEOC's Western Massachusetts "5 Day" A-meet — coordinated by Peter and Gail Gagarin, Alison Crocker, Alex Jospe, and Phil Bricker — and held over the 2012 Memorial Day weekend, entertained orienteers with five events held over two days of the weekend and generated net proceeds of $6,700. With the approval of the New England Orienteering Club's board of directors, the proceeds are being donated to the U.S. Ski Orienteering Team, to help fund their travel and other expenses in attending the 2013 World Ski Orienteering Champs in Kazakhstan.

Thanks are due to NEOC for agreeing to this so willingly, to the ski O community for all their help in organizing the event; and especially to Alex and Ali, both for their substantial commitments of time and energy to make this happen, and also for the inspiration that they generated, by their amazing performances on the world level the last couple of years, to hold the event in the first place.

And thanks also to all who participated and made this donation possible.

Good luck to the team in 2013.
