Announcing New Event Register Administrator

For the past few years, as many of you know, Kent Shaw and Orienteering USA have worked in cooperation to develop and launch Event Register, the U.S. event registration system for orienteering events, primarily A-meets. This has truly been a labor of love for Kent as he conceptualized it and grew it into what it is today.

Late last year, Kent let the web committee know that he would like to step down from his involvement with Event Reg. While we are sorry to see him go, we respect his wishes and truly thank him for his time and efforts in promoting our sport.

As a result of a national search, and one focused primarily within the orienteering community, we are happy to announce that CSU's Ed Despard has agreed to become the new head of Orienteering USA's Event Reg. While there was a tremendously strong and deep applicant pool, Ed's technical talents, vision and enthusiasm have clearly shown through.

Effective immediately Ed and Kent will begin a transition period to help prepare for the fall event schedule.

As head of the committee, I would like to thank the committee members: Greg Lennon, Mike Schuh, Janet Tryson and Ken Walker, Jr. for their efforts. Once again I would like to thank all of the applicants for expressing interest in the program. Finally, I would like to thank Kent Shaw for a job well done.
