    Indian Valley 2025 - Sunday, May 11, 2025

    BAOC

    Indian Valley 2025
Come enjoy a creative event at Indian Valley College! The main campus area is mostly flat but with a network of deep ravines. South of this you'll find steep and wooded hills with few trails, while to the north are gentler hills interspersed with meadows and a trail network.

Petra Sundstrom has designed a mixture of courses for this event:

    * The White (Beginner), Yellow (Advanced Beginner), and Orange (Intermediate) courses will be standard courses.
    * The Brown through Red courses (no Blue this year) will have a twist. First, the participants will do a normal (though somewhat short) Brown/Green/Red course. Then there will be a map flip, culminating in a Sprint-style finish around the campus area.

Use this entry form to register as an individual and pay online. To register a "team" that will stay together on the course and appear as a single unit in the results, please register at the event instead.

    CNYO

    2025 CNYO Rogaine
CNYO's Annual Summer Rogaine Score Format. —teams of two to five people have a fixed time (6, 12, or 24 hours in this event) to visit as many checkpoints as possible, walking, running or resting as they see fit (solo entries will be allowed in the 6-hour event this year, but not in the longer 12 or 24 hour competitions). The checkpoints (controls) are spread over a large area, and are pre-marked on a map issued shortly before the start of the event. Point values for visiting each control vary (and are specified in advance) depending on such factors as the distance from the start/finish area, elevation, navigational complexity, and the whims of the course setter. The members of the team must stay together throughout the event, for reasons of safety. The base camp is located in a primitive camping area in Charles E Baker State Forest, near Brookfield, NY GPS Coordinates are N 42.764506 W -75.386701. Free overnight camping is available Friday and Saturday nights. Bring tents, sleeping bags, etc. It will be on a small dirt loop road going to the old Fire Tower site (the fire tower has been gone for a few decades now), which will allow for participants to pull off to the side to set up tents for camping if they wish. There will be a couple of portable toilets, and we will have available a moderate supply of drinking water for the use of people that are camping there, or who want to be filling water bottles, etc. just before going out on the course. We will keep track of placings in all of the the usual IRF rogaine categories (Men, Women, Mixed, in each of the various age subcategories of Junior (all under 23), Open, Veterans (all over 40), Super Veterans (all over 55), Ultra Veterans (all over 65)), as well as the overall placing, in the printed results of the event. SOLO orienteers (6 Hour Only) please indicate by selecting Team Solo. We may possibly provide some sort of physical award for some of the placements in at least some of these categories! Please mention your teams class in the comments of the online registration form. Entries received by June 1 will cost $50 per person. After June 2 up through June 18, there is a $5/person late fee. Payment by check may be made to Central New York Orienteering and must be postmarked by the indicated registration deadlines. Registration from June 19 on, or day of event registration on site, will incur an additional $10 fee, and will need to be paid by cash or check. Minors will need a liability waiver signed by a legal guardian. On-site registration by minors will require the presence of a guardian to sign the waiver if the form has not been filled out in advance. All participants will be required to sign a liability release waiver. More information is on the club Rogaine event page. We hope to see you in the woods!

    Alaska Orienteering Festival - 2025 - June 25 to July 2, 2025

    ARCTIC

    Alaska Orienteering Festival - 2025
Join the Arctic Orienteering Club for four days of spectacular Alaska orienteering and experience the long summer days in a land of rugged beauty! Check the festival website for maps and photos. -- The first event is on Wednesday evening (June 25, 2025) in Anchorage. It's a forest sprint through a natural orienteering playground of convoluted topography created by the 1964 earthquake. Short and long course versions of this butterfly-style race will be run on multiple loops intersecting at a central control point. Think great spectating and exciting competitor interaction! -- The Saturday (June 28, 2025) event at Willow features open forest visibility, unique pockets of labyrinthine meadow and thicket navigation, and very interesting terrain with few linear features. This venue is sure to challenge your orienteering skills. This is a National Ranking Event (NRE) sanctioned by OUSA. -- The Sunday (June 29, 2025) event will be a long/extra long classic in a spectacular alpine venue. Use your medium to advanced navigation skills as you traverse the delightful lowland tundra and ascend into hanging valleys with incredible wilderness views. This is what Alaska orienteering is all about! -- Depending on the weather, some of the locals may be camping near the alpine venue. If you would like more information, please email the registrar or ask the staff at the Willow event. -- The final event will be on the following Wednesday evening (July 2, 2025) at Mirror Lake. This classic forest event with White to Red courses features mostly open birch and spruce forest with lots of low ferns for ground cover.
