2012 Candidates for Election to the Board of Directors

Orienteering USA Board Candidate Biographies

Bob Forgrave, Cascade Orienteering Club, orienteering since 1983

  • I would like to serve on the board to help represent the West Coast, both as a contributor and gatherer of best practices.
  • My passions are club development, youth programs, and how to improve relations with land managers.
  • My professional skills include writing, product planning/analysis, and project management.
  • My orienteering background includes 5 years as a middle school coach, 2 years as director of WIOL (Washington Inscholastic Orienteering League), 4 years as Vice President of COC, and product planner behind the COC website and online registrations system.

Jennifer Flagel (Geray), Cascade Orienteering Club,

  • I am currently the Secretary of Cascade Orienteering Club.
  • My first foray into orienteering was the annual Bog Slog sponsored by COC in December approximately 6 or 7 years ago.  I am not an avid runner, but orienteering lets me “run with purpose”!  I also love the challenge of finding the controls.  It’s always a rush when I’m right on the mark.
  • I am amazed at the level of effort our club board puts into making orienteering a successful event for everyone.  It’s exciting to see the kids having so much fun!  Since it’s difficult for me to volunteer at the meets, my contribution is making sure the club is successful from behind the scenes.  A position on the OUSA BOD would further enhance that desire.
