Alison Crocker 20th in 2012 WOC Sprint Final

Alison Crocker, CSU member currently from Massachusetts, placed 20th in the 2012 World Orienteering Championship Sprint final race held July 14, 2012 in Lausanne, Switzerland. It was exciting to watch her race eventual winner Simone Niggli of Switzerland to the finish on the GPS tracking. Alison placed 3rd in her qualifying heat to earn a later start in the Finals.

Samantha Saeger, NEOC, placed 16th in her qualifying heat, just 5 seconds away from taking part in the Finals. Hannah Burgess, USMAOC, placed 27th. For the men, Boris Granovskiy of CSU placed 29th out of 38, and Giacomo Barbone, also a CSU member, was 33rd out of 39. Ross Smith (CSU) unfortunately is unable to take part in this year's World Championships as he broke his elbow earlier this month and needs to allow time for it to heal. Logistics did not allow an alternate to take his place.

Canada's Patrick Goeres finished 36th out of 43 (two others missed punches), 2:22 behind men's winner Matthias Kyburz. The top three men were from the host country, Switzerland, as was the women's gold medalist.
