Crocker and Owens Are U.S. Ski Orienteering Champions for 2014

Alison Crocker and Adrian Owens were women's and men's Open Champions at the U.S. 2014 Ski Orienteering Championships held in Stowe, Vermont, March 14-16. As the overall winners they also receive inaugural Scott Pleban Awards, named for the long-time U.S. Ski Orienteering Team member who was severely injured in a bicycle accident in 2013.

Results of all the races are posted on the New England Ski Orienteering website, with splits posted on Attackpoint:

Barbara Beall from Faster Skier, an online news source for U.S. nordic sports, reported on the event in an article published March 19, "Grab a Map and Go! U.S. Ski Orienteering Nationals Recap from Stowe."

The Empire Orienteering Club (EMPO) of eastern New York state, aided partly by their prowess and partly by their proximity to the championship venue, won the Perm Trophy, which is awarded to the club having the most points based on finishes by club members. EMPO had 10 skiers in attendance, with 5 first place finishes, 3 second places, and 6 third places.
