2015 Silva Award Winner, Clare Durand

Clare has been unbelievably active, helping our sport on the board, as the driving force on the Rules Committee and many other things. Other accomplishments include:

  • Club leadership: Los Angeles Orienteering Club
  • Federation leadership: both President and Vice President/Competition
  • Led extensive rewrite and ongoing renovations to our competition rules
  • Leader in the United States Trail Orienteering community
  • Former delegation head at IOF Congress
  • Active foot orienteer

When there is an issue with sanctioning a meet, she chimes in and helps define the parameters. When there are rules-related issues going to the board, she is on top of them. She has guided the Trail-O team to the past two WTOC events and has worked to improve the rules of that sport. She also, in the last five years, ended her term as President of Orienteering USA.
