2017 President's Award Recipients

Greg has been a member of OUSA’s Board of Directors for the past 11 years, 8 of them as a VP. He has worked tiressly to advance the technical capabilities of OUSA, including managing the OUSA website, payment systems, servers, domains, online membership database, and much more. You have Greg to thank for the ability to pay your dues on-line. He has also volunteered these talents, and much more, to his local club, Quantico Orienteering Club. Greg, together with his wife, Kathleen, have truly helped to make QOC the powerful club it is today.

Peter stepped down last year after serving five years as President of OUSA. He’s been on the Board for a total of 8 years. Little-known fact: He was a nomination from the floor when he was initially voted onto the Board! He skillfully directed the 2016 NA Champs when no one else
stepped up and is currently heading up the Mapping initiative for the 50th Anniversary Fund, which he spearheaded. He has been an invaluable source of advice and guidance for me in my first year as president.

Sandy has been an incredible presence in DVOA for many years. She was the lead meet director for the 2012 NA Champs, transforming the expectations for all future North American Champs. She consistently delivers quality orienteering events on both the local and national levels. However, the reason she is getting this award is because at a time when the Board was trying to figure out who was going to take on a good amount of the work that our previous Executive Director had been doing, Sandy stepped forward unbidden and volunteered. She worked with Glen before he left to ensure a smooth transition and has been monitoring OUSA’s email account. Whatever we ask of her, she takes on. It’s so nice to have that kind of support, and I completely appreciate it.
