Samantha Saeger qualifies for Sprint Final at 2012 EOC

On Wednesday, May 16, Samantha Saeger finished 12th in her sprint trial heat to qualify for the EOC 2012 Sprint Final race which will take place on Saturday, May 19.

TV Coverage of 2012 European Orienteering Championships

The European Orienteering Championships for 2012 are being held in the Dalarna district, near the towns of Mora, Orsa, and Falun, Sweden along the border with Norway. U.S. team members Ross Smith and Samantha Saeger, currently living and training in Sweden, will be competing in the EOC. Robbie Anderson of Team Canada is also competing at the EOC.

U.S. Team to 2012 World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships

On May 9, 2012, the Orienteering USA Executive Committee approved a proposal to potentially name several individuals to represent the U.S. in this summer's 10th MTBO World Orienteering Championships, held in Veszprem, Hungary, from August 17–26. The final entry deadline for World Masters Orienteering Championships 2012 in Bad Harzburg, Germany, is 10 May 2012.

Alison Crocker Finishes 4th in Ski Orienteering World Cup Long Race!

Alison Crocker of Massachusetts, member of the U.S. Teams in Ski-O and Foot-O, as well as Cambridge Sports Union, has finished in fourth place, near the top of the women's field,  in the first Ski-O World Cup race of 2012 in Lake Tahoe, California. After a model event on Northstar-Lake Tahoe's cross-country ski trails yesterday, athletes took to the snow at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski area.

"Only a Game," NPR at U.S. Champs

U.S. 2011 Relay and Night Orienteering Champions

While much of the northeast was dealing with the effects of an early-season snowstorm the weekend of October 28-30, 2011, the orienteering conditions in St. Louis were just about perfect for the Night-O Champs held Friday evening in Cuivre River State Park in Troy, Missouri, and the Relay Champs Sunday in Creve Couer, Missouri, all organized by the St. Louis Orienteering Club.

Winners of the Night Champs were Greg Walker, Truckee, Calilfornia, and Alison Crocker, Amherst, Massachusetts. Both compete for the Cambridge Sports Union (CSU).

Massachusetts resident Alison Crocker sweeps orienteering championships

It was a clean sweep for Alison Crocker of Amherst, Massachusetts, as she won all three events at the USA Orienteering Championships, which were held October 21-23, 2011, in Boston and surrounding areas.

Crocker led the women’s field at the Sprint (Franklin Park-Boston), Middle (Lynn Woods-Lynn), and Long distance (Middlesex Fells-Stoneham) events, winning gold medals in each event.

Hannah Burgess (Pittsburgh, PA), was Crocker’s closest rival, finishing second in all three events.

The International Orienteering Federation has approved six World Ranking Events (WRE) in the U.S. for calendar year 2012: the sprint, middle, and long races at the U.S.
